- Cromarty Coastal Circuit Walking tour along the Cromarty coast up the Sutors headland with outstanding views.
This is but a few of the activities available on the Black Isle. Also, from Flowerburn, bikers have direct access to the Red Rock Trails just 200 metres from the Lodges. Built in the hundreds of acres of nearby forest the trails also provided excellent walking routes and are just the ticket for exercising your dog. The Black Isle boasts a wealth of points of historical and natural interest:
- Groam House Museum Local museum in the village of Rosemarkie. Noted for its collection of Pictish Carved Stones and a stop on the Pictish Trail.
- Fortrose Cathedral Just southeast of Fortrose High Street, you can visit the remains of the spacious medieval cathedral.
- Hugh Miller’s Birthplace Thatched cottage managed by National Trust Scotland. Birthplace of Hugh Miller, influential 19th Century fossil hunter, folklorist, Christian, stonemason, geologist, newspaper editor, and social justice campaigner.
- Munlochy Clootie Well Dip a rag in the well, make a wish or prayer and tie the rag (aka ‘cloot’) to a tree.
